With the NSW All Schools Championships re-scheduled for late November, early December, Jasmin Guthrie showed she will be a top contender with some fine running at the first Northern Zone competition of the summer at Rotary Field on Saturday.
Running on a shifting surface, Jasmin tripped and almost fell in the home straight but still recorded the fastest time of the day when she won the under 18 years girls 400m.
Jasmin was also second in the 100m. Her sister Bella Guthrie, a 400m hurdler, was second in the 400m and equal third in the 100m.
Ashley McMahon set a UTS Norths Club record in his first outing of the season, easily taking out the men’s 45+ years 100m and erasing squad mate Paul Stinson’s name from the record books. His training partner Caerl Murray was second. Ashley also won the high jump.
Monique Perry showed she is almost back to her best after injury, running a very fast 100m, to win the women’s 40+ years division with Maria Cimino third. Maria set a State record and an open National Championship qualifier in winning the hammer throw. She also won the shot put and javelin.
Nicolette Donofrio won the women’s under 20 years 100m.
Janet Naylon won the women’s 50+ years long jump and was third in the 100m, javelin and shot put.
Jess Maciver was equal third in the under 18 years girls 100m and fourth in the 400m.
